All civil works for a thermal power plant in Eskişehir: slipform silos, a reinforced concrete cooling tower built with hydraulic climbing formwork, large-scale concrete and steel works.

Under the Yunus Emre Thermal Power Plant project in Eskişehir, SİBA executed all civil works on a turnkey basis, including design. This case study addresses the scope of a large-scale thermal power plant construction, the slipform silo structures, and the reinforced concrete cooling tower built with hydraulic climbing formwork.
A large-scale thermal power plant requires many reinforced concrete and steel structures with different functions to be built together in a coordinated way. In such projects, selecting the most suitable formwork method for each structure and managing site organisation holistically are decisive.
The silo structures were built with the slipform method to obtain a continuous, jointless shell. Slipform is a method that secures both structural continuity and construction speed in tall reinforced concrete structures.
The success of a plant construction lies as much in planning and managing the individual structures together as in the quality of each one.
The reinforced concrete cooling tower was built using a hydraulic climbing formwork system. Climbing formwork enables tall, geometrically variable shell structures to be constructed in a controlled manner by lifting the shell in stages. Large-volume reinforced concrete and steel works were carried out within the project.
The Yunus Emre Thermal Power Plant is an example of a plant construction that combines different formwork methods and numerous structure types within a single turnkey scope, taking its place among SİBA's heavy-industrial references.
